Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman was a runaway slave from Maryland who helped more then 300 slaves to safety. As a child, she was beat, which created her determination get freedom. During the Civil war, she helped a lot on the battle field. She ran away from the South to Philadelphia. Tubman returned to the south 19 times, never getting caught. When the furtive Slave law was passed, she lead the slaves even farther up north and helped them find jobs.Once there was a $40,000 reward for anyone who turned her in.
